ACROSS THE STREET & AROUND THE WORLD

   This is the strategy of the Missions Ministry here at Southside Christian Church. There is nothing original or new about this strategy. It is simply derived from the instructions from Jesus found in Acts 1:8.

   In Acts 1:7, Jesus is addressing the restoration of the kingdom of Israel, that no one knows that timing except the Father. Then in Acts 1:8, He tells Christians what He expects from us. We will be empowered by the Holy Spirit and “you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  These were His last words of instruction before He ascended into heaven.

   Jerusalem is represented by the local communities that the individual members of Southside Christian Church live and work in. Judea is represented by the rest of Kentucky. Samaria is represented by the United States. And the ends of the earth is every other place on the earth. Within the Missions Ministry we are broken into four teams, each team focuses on ministering to one of these areas.

    Jerusalem supports ministries such as the Pregnancy Resource Center, Young Life in Lincoln and Boyle counties, and our benevolence ministry. A large and exciting part of the benevolence ministry is the AGAPE HOUSE.

   Judea is involved with the Galilean Home in Casey County. A group goes each year to do a week of VBS for the children. This group includes both youth and adults.

   Samaria is involved with several ministries across the country. These ministries are reaching children and adults. One of these ministries is Mastermedia. Mastermedia works within the entertainment industry, both in Los Angeles and New York City, spreading the gospel.

   Ends of the earth has many exciting ministries that stretch from Japan to Costa Rica. One of those ministries is a Luke Partnership. This partnership is between The Seed Company, The Jesus Film Project and Southside Christian Church. Upon completion of the project, the film will be shown to the Bara people of south central Madagascar.

    The Missions Ministry also holds an annual missionary conference where all ministries are present. This conference is called the Global Impact Celebration. Missionaries from across the street and around the world are here to share how God is moving and using us to witness to the entire world.

   There are a huge number of opportunities for people to get plugged in and to be used by God to continue to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
